Sara Peymanpour launches Pearl Collection
Sara Peymanpour London launches the Pearl Collection, comprising exquisite one-off hand-carved pearl jewellery set in 18-carat gold, at the Facets PR Press Preview in London on Wednesday.
Designer Sara Peymanpour will present her pieces, which include earrings, necklaces, rings and brooches, at The Century Club, 61-63 Shaftesbury Avenue, from 4-8 pm.
Persian influences permeate her new collection, which is inspired by Sara’s love of the oceans and nature.
“I’m an avid scuba diver and during one of my dives in the Persian Gulf we found an extremely rare natural Persian pearl in its oyster,” said Sara, who grew up in Iran and now lives in London.
“It was a magical experience and made me fall in love with pearls even more.”
Sara adds, “I was born in June so my birthstone is pearl. This has made pearls really special for me.”
The Pearl Collection is hand-carved in Germany, each piece with a different beautiful pattern.
The collection features Tahitian, South Sea and freshwater pearls.
“Each 18-carat gold cap or ring is individually designed and hand-made for each pearl to follow and match the carving pattern on that pearl — which essentially makes each piece a totally one-off jewel,” Sara said.
Increasing rarity of pearls, and a new-found appreciation of one of nature’s most magical and mysterious creations, have made pearls popular again.
“For the past few years younger women have started to pay attention to pearls because they can be worn both casually with jeans or added to a cocktail dress,” Sara said.
“But pearls need to have a modern and new setting — a pearl string is still considered somewhat old-fashioned and not cool.”
The Pearl Collection will also be sold at the Mayfair showroom of Sara Peymanpour London and at some galleries including Wolf & Badger’s London, New York City and online stores.
Sara launched her eponymous, responsibly sourced jewellery brand, Sara Peymanpour London, at Couture London, an invitation-only showcase for designer brands, in June 2018.
All of Sara’s jewellery, which is typically inspired by the flowers and gardens, lighting and architecture of her Persian heritage, is responsibly sourced and made by master craftspeople in Italy, Britain and Iran.
Sara holds a master degree in jewellery design and is a graduate gemmologist of the GIA.
