The total number of buyers at the event was 13,670, most of whom were Italian – 9,413 from Italy , and 4,257 from other countries.
Three quarters of the exhibitors were Italian, underlining the importance of the Vicenza Fair as a representative of Italian-made jewellery.
Domenico Girardi, General Manager of the Vicenza Fair, said he was pleased with the result of the show, and noted the increase in the number of exhibitors from Spain, France and Germany .
Commenting on the mood at the event, the Fair said in a statement, “We can talk of a reawakening of the sector, but we shall have to wait and see the result of the Vicenza Fair’s ‘First’ show, which will start on January 16, 2010.”
Girardi outlined concerns over the impact of the volatility of the gold price for the jewellery sector.
“In general, rather than the absolute value of the precious metal, it is its volatility which generates difficulty for production companies in managing their supplies and pricing,” he said.
