Strong retailer turnout as Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair opens doors
ANTWERP, Belgium, January 31, 2016 – A strong international showing of retailers packed the corridors on the first day of the Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair (ADTF) on Sunday, January 31, 2016.
Business was brisk as retailers from across Europe and beyond crammed into the tight halls at the show in the Antwerp diamond district to study a vast array of loose diamonds from an extraordinary selection of cut, clarity and colour.
Diamonds of all sizes, clarities and cuts, predominantly white but also colour stones, were on display in the exhibition halls.
“We are very keen to meet retailers from the UK,” said Yossi Roth, sales manager with exhibitor AMC Diamonds.
Dealers said retailer demand had been generally subdued in recent months against a backdrop of shortages of stones.
Alexis Dove, a designer and retailer visiting from the UK, said she was impressed with the wide variety of diamonds on show at ADTF, and was optimistic that she would be able to source the precise specifications of stones she was looking for.
The fair is hosted by the Antwerp Diamond Bourse, the Antwerp Diamond Club and the Antwerp Diamond Kring and powered by the AWDC, the umbrella organisation of the Belgian diamond industry and trade.
This unique “diamond only” trade show, now in its seventh edition, is an important fixture on the annual trade show calendar of the international diamond, gem and jewellery industry and trade.
