Slim, retro look feature in watch trends for 2013+
VICENZA, Italy, September 10, 2011 – Slender designs and retro style feature in watches trends for 2013+, said trends expert Paola De Luca, introducing key themes from her Trend Book 2013+.
Speaking in a seminar at the VicenzaOro Choice trade fair, De Luca outlined themes for watch designs in 2013+, including what she termed “Ultra thin”, “Floral temptation”, “Time Traveller”, “Tropical Glow,” “Colour Opus”, “Eclectic Straps”, and “Everlasting.”
The blaze of colour predicted for jewellery designs for 2013+, is replicated in watches, she later told Jewellery Outlook in an interview.
De Luca said that ultra thin watch designs would return in a reaction to the recent popular trend for chunky timepieces.
Retro designs reminiscent of the 1950s and 1960s would make a comeback, she said.
Asked if watch designs were moving towards greater simplicity or complication, De Luca said, “There is a move towards simplicity in terms of the silhouette, but from a collector ‘s viewpoint, complications are more celebrated.”
