MUNICH, Germany, March 3, 2011 – “Flash colours” and flower power dominate trends in jewellery for Spring/Summer 2011, consultant Irmie Schüch-Schamburek said.
“Last year muted tones like grey and beige were in vogue. This Spring is all about ´flash colours´, like crisp blue, hot pink and turquoise red,” Schüch-Schamburek told a packed seminar at inhorgenta.
“We are seeing wild combinations of daring colours in fashion.”
Schüch-Schamburek said the blaze of colours in fashion was permeating into jewellery with a shift in tastes increasingly towards brightly coloured gemstones and “statement jewels”.
“Coloured precious stones are very much in demand,” she said.
“This season will see lots of pavé combinations.”
Black-and-white combined with other colours is growing in popularity.
Schüch-Schamburek said “flower power” was an overriding theme crossing over from fashion into jewellery for Spring/Summer 2011.
“Flowers are omnipresent — from the mass market to bespoke styles,” she said.
“Floral design has a powerful look. You can be absolutely sure that flower combinations will stay with us for the next few years.”
Beads and charms, as popularised by Pandora, will retain their appeal in the Spring/Summer 2011 as women add to their collections, Schüch-Schamburek said.
“If you want to reward yourself, buy a little charm.”
