GENEVA, 23 JANUARY 2024 – The eighth edition of GemGenève, a show for precious stone and jewellery professionals and enthusiasts, will be opening its doors from Thursday 9 May to Sunday 12 May at Palexpo.
The exhibitor space is already fully booked, with over 180 carefully selected exhibitors signed up. The highly anticipated exhibition will coincide with another landmark event, the Geneva Luxury Week and its spring auctions.
Ever true to its exclusive recipe – a trade fair created by exhibitors open to the general public – GemGenève showcases a diverse range of gems and jewels and offers a unique platform dedicated to the world of exceptional diamonds, precious stones, pearls, and antique and contemporary jewellery. The show also features prestigious designers and emerging talents, and boasts the participation of famous schools and the young designers of tomorrow.
Over and above its role as a tradeshow, the event is placing an increasing emphasis on culture, young people, training, and passing on knowledge. GemGenève is constantly seeking new opportunities and projects to showcase. With Director Mathieu Dekeukelaire at the helm, the organisers are especially keen for each new edition to feature a cultural programme of the highest quality and encourage the emergence of new vocations among younger generations.
The press conference will take place on Wednesday 8 May at 11 a.m. after a guided tour of the exhibition at 10 a.m. Attended by local authorities, guests and the media, the Preview will be held that same day at 2 p.m. The official opening ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.
We attribute just as much importance to precious stones and the creation and design of jewellery as we do to the fostering of real solidarity, by uniting the international community of traders in precious stones and antique jewellery, designers and all those with a passion for jewels.
Thomas Faerber, Co-founder of GemGenève
The eighth edition of GemGenève will be held from 9 to 12 May at Palexpo Hall 1
As in previous editions, GemGenève will be bringing together the very best international dealers from across the whole spectrum of the jewellery industry. Buyers and key players in the show (conceived and designed with them in mind) offer an impressive variety of hard-to-find pieces to discover and acquire, ranging from affordable jewellery for everyday wear via antique gems and exceptional items worthy of museums to contemporary creations illustrating all the genius of today’s emerging talents.
Following on from the four previous exhibitions at GemGenève (Fabulous Carl Fabergé, Micromosaics through the ages, Automatons and Music and The Pearl Odyssey, GemGenève’s organisers are keen to promote jewellery heritage alongside all the related arts and crafts, offering cultural institutions, jewellery houses and discerning collectors a prominent role as part of the exhibition’s cultural programme. In May 2024, GemGenève will be hosting an exhibition wholly devoted to Opal.
FEEL THE WORLD IN OUR GEMS
FIND YOUR GEMS IN OUR WORLD
The show, unprecedented in its kind, offers visitors an opportunity to discover exceptional jewels – to touch them, feel them and be dazzled by the beauty and perfection radiating from every piece. It also gives visitors the chance to compare, get in touch with highly qualified professionals for customized advice and make a fully-informed, spontaneous purchase on the spot, if the right piece is there at the right time! Now more than ever, the world needs to reconnect with essential values.
While the colours for the campaign in November 2023 were winter hues, the spring edition will take on new tones characteristic of the summer season. The forthcoming edition will be accompanied by a new exhibition decor from talented designers of the agency Autre Idée, transforming Palexpo Hall 1 with a theme of ‘Journeys and Movements’. As ever, the key concepts are elegance and a seamless visitor experience.
Established in 2018 by Ronny Totah and Thomas Faerber, two Geneva dealers in jewels and precious stones, GemGenève is designed and devised by exhibitors. The show, unprecedented in the sector, is open to the public and brings together a remarkable community, including dealers in precious stones, diamonds, pearls and jewellery, gemmological laboratories, manufacturers, specialist bookshops, experts and historians. GemGenève was born out of a market need, serving a hitherto unexploited opportunity that has come to define its success.
With GemGenève, we are sharing and communicating our knowledge. We’re committed to spreading the word and heightening awareness in the public – informed or otherwise –, to encouraging new generations to learn and discover new things. We’re simply spreading our passion for the world of jewellery and precious stones.
