ISTANBUL, Turkey – The Istanbul Jewelry Show saw high attendance from the start on April 16, 2025, with many booths packed with buyers, against a backdrop of soaring gold prices.

Buyers from export markets such as the Gulf Middle East did not appear to be deterred by the gold prices, which are up more than a fifth so far this year and hit another record high on April 16, due to uncertainties over the impact of U.S. tariffs, fears of an escalating U.S.-China trade war, a weak U.S. dollar, resilient central bank buying, and expectations for further U.S. rate cuts later this year.

Turkish gold jewellery manufacturers spoke of increasingly using the latest technologies to reduce the weight of gold in jewellery designs, including offering hollow pieces, and coating 14-ct gold with 22-ct gold, and reducing gold purities in some market segments.
The Istanbul Jewelry Show, organised by Informa, runs until April 19, 2025.
