HONG KONG – JGW Hong Kong September 2026 kicked off with a strong turnout of retail buyers from mainland China, auguring for solid business at the show.

Visitor registrations by buyers from mainland China, who represent the backbone of the world’s largest jewellery trade event, had held up well in the loose gemstones halls at the Asia World Expo (AWE) since the opening of that section of the show on September 15, 2026, said Celine Lau, director of jewellery fairs at Informa Markets.

Registrations by Russian buyers had more than doubled year-on-year, she added, signalling that the Russian jewellery trade needed to restock.

“JGW sits at the crossroads of East and West, connecting the global industry,” Allen Xiang, Informa Markets’ general manager for jewellery, told a news conference on September 16.

The robust visitor registrations at JGW, organised by Informa Markets, signalled a resilient jewellery market despite headwinds from geopolitical uncertainties, such as the impact of the U.S.-Iran war on global inflation, U.S. tariffs, and buoyant and volatile precious metals prices.

JGW offers a vast variety of goods, from finished jewellery to loose gemstones, machinery and packaging, encompassing the entire jewellery supply chain.

“If you cannot find what you are looking for here, you cannot find it anywhere,” Celine Lau said.
