MUNICH, Germany, March 3, 2011 – German jewellery brands dominated the Platinum Promenade Awards at inhorgenta 2011, showing off superb design skills and innovative manufacturing techniques.
The winners were chosen by a jury comprising jewellery journalists and professionals.
Furrer Jacot won the Wedding Rings category with what managing director Sandro Erl termed a “new interpretation of design from the 1950s.”
Gebrüder Schaffrath won the Platinum Jewellery segment, celebrating the comeback of bright colours in jewellery styles.
Beatrice Müller expressed delighted surprise when her company, Glanz und Gloria, won the Platinum for Men category.
schmuckwerk won the engagement ring award for the “kiss ring”.
“The idea was that the diamond kissed the precious metal, and platinum was the best metal for that,” said schmuckwerk’s Markus Schmidt.
Rounding off the awards event, Meister took the gong for the Tri-Set combination of engagement ring and wedding bands in platinum.
“There is nothing more beautiful than a diamond in platinum,” Fabian Meister said.
Heike Haag of “Madame” magazine, a member of the jury that chose the winners, said the design standards were extremely high.
“I think the manufacturers are getting more and more courageous in their designs,” she told Jewellery Outlook.
