The UK’s Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) has announced that its Autumn Trade Event on 14 and 15 August 2022 will now take place at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Wales on the same dates.

The event had been planned to take place at Silverstone, but the new hotel at Silverstone that was due to open this summer ahead of the British Grand Prix, will now not be finished in time for either the Grand Prix or the CMJ’s event six weeks later. Despite the short notice, the CMJ has managed to secure an equally impressive venue, the ICC Wales, in Newport, South Wales, and to hold the same dates as originally announced.

Emmet Cummins, Managing Director of the CMJ, said: “We realise there was a lot of excitement around the move to Silverstone in August, but unfortunately, despite on-going assurances that the on-site hotel would be completed ahead of the summer, the Covid spike in March and global supply chain challenges have resulted in unavoidable delays in construction. We are naturally very disappointed, but it is certainly a venue that we can consider again in the future.

“Our decision now to move to the modern, world-class exhibition space that the ICC will provide is still allowing the CMJ to elevate its trade and networking meetings to the next level. The layout and the modern facilities of this purpose-built venue more than enable us to deliver the new aspects of the CMJ trade show as we presented to the membership at our Spring Trade Event.”

The CMJ is the largest specialist jewellery and watch buying group in the UK and Ireland, with almost 150 retailer members. To find out more, visit www.masterjewellers.co.uk.
