ISTANBUL, Turkey – Caring for our planet, an inner quest for happiness, nostalgia re-imagined, and bursting back into joy post-pandemic, are key themes driving jewellery design trends, a seminar at Istanbul Jewelry Show heard.
Trends forecaster WGSN outlined three broad themes in jewellery design trends for Spring/Summer 2023:
“Design-wise” – Products with a sense of meaning, purpose and innovation, sit at the heart of this direction.
Key pointers – blues and greens come to the fore, in line with a requirement for more sustainable products; black and white “monochrome” designs are popular;
Gender fluidity;
Optimism.
“Soul Space” – an inner quest for spiritual health and happiness.
Key pointers – orange tones and rejuvenating pinks are at the forefront;
Supersized florals – big, bold and beautiful designs of flowers to uplift the soul.
“Full spectrum” – much more exaggerated designs and a buoyant mood post-pandemic;
Joyful expression is a key aesthetic;
Regency romance – inspired by Netflix series “Bridgerton”;
Butterflies, reflecting bright colour blends, nature and sophistication;
Mixing metals;
Colourful enamel.
