Weston Beamor to showcase Hasanthi Ovesen and Fairtrade Metals at JWS Birmingham
BIRMINGHAM, England, December 20, 2014 – The Birmingham casting house and 3D printing company, Weston Beamor will have two major attractions on its stand at the Jewellery and Watch Show Birmingham (Hall 17 Stand P40/Q41) in 2015: the work of the London, fine jewellery designer Hasanthi Ovesen and a representative from the Fairtrade Foundation.
Hasanthi Ovesen, who describes her design aesthetic as ‘timeless elegance’, has been working with Weston Beamor for the past six months to bring her complex designs to reality and will be on their stand on Tuesday 3rd February, to discuss the technical challenges that some of her pieces posed to the WB team and to explain how the designs were finally brought to reality.
“We are really proud of our collaboration with Hasi and of our part in the creation of some of her truly stunning jewels. I think many people both visiting and exhibiting at the show will be interested to meet her and learn more about her work,” says Glen Day, Business Development Manager at Weston Beamor.
Ovesen, who is a native of Sri Lanka, the source of so many beautiful minerals, was much influenced by the raw, natural gemstones she saw about her when she was growing up and many of her designs encompass large, coloured stones.
Fairtrade metals also a focus
In addition to showcasing Ovesen’s work the Weston Beamor team will also be playing host to Victoria Waugh of the Fairtrade Foundation who will be spending the Tuesday of the show on their stand. WB was one of the very early adopters of Fairtrade certified metals and the first casting company in the UK to gain production certification. It has relatively recently expanded its remit to offer casting in Fairtrade certified silver and well as in gold.
“The supply of Fairtrade metals is now much larger than it once was and we are able to offer our customers significant production runs in both gold and silver,” Day said.
“A new scheme designed to make it easier for businesses to buy Fairtrade gold has just been launched and we are delighted to welcome Victoria to our stand where she will be able to give retailers and exhibitors further information about this important initiative and how they can get involved.”
