White Pine Diamonds attracted strong interest at CMJ Trade Event

BIRMINGHAM, England, April 2013 – White Pine Diamonds’ first attendance at the CMJ Spring Trade Event in Birmingham in March is already being hailed as a tremendous success by the White Pine’s management team.
“We have been extremely gratified by the level of interest we have received, not simply from those CMJ members we met at the meeting but also from those who have contacted us since the event ended,” said the company’s Director of Europe, Tim Phillips.

Phillips, who was invited to give a short address at the meeting explaining the concept of the diamond recycling service his company provides, is convinced that most retailers, especially those who are already buying gold jewellery for scrap, can gain an additional revenue stream by selling surplus stones.
“Some members had already heard about our services and had previously sold to us. Most of those I spoke with were, I think, pleasantly surprised by the sort of prices we were able to offer them.  Retailers were also pleased to discover that we buy all kinds of diamonds, however small and whatever the quality,” said Phillips.
Using the CMJ/White Pine service, members are invited either to send their unwanted diamonds to the CMJ, where they will be stored for valuation on a regular basis by one of White Pine’s expert valuers, or send them directly to White Pine’s offices in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
Large stones are priced individually using the GIA’s grading system while small stones (called melee, being under 1/3rd carat), are sorted into size groups to determine relative proportions of each grade and to generate a methodical value for the parcel using the company’s own system.
The offers will then be communicated to members by the CMJ, or on their behalf by White Pine, and if accepted, funds will be transferred on the same day prior to the diamonds being released to White Pine.
CMJ Chief Executive  Willie Hamilton said: “Retailers who have recognised and used the services of White Pine Diamonds highly recommended them to the CMJ Support Team in Rugby. While it is still very early days for diamond recycling in the UK, this sector of the business is growing all the time and we are confident that as more of our retailers understand the services that the CMJ and White Pine Diamonds can offer them, how easy it is to get involved and the real extra commercial benefits it brings on top of their existing business. I am sure that this incremental income stream will be of great benefit to everyone.”
